The food may be a day or two old, my salads were definitely tired. My son’s “roll” may have been hamburger meat. We can’t tell. You tell me, is this a roll? Not to mention the surly woman who served us. She wouldn’t make eye contact from the start, nor did she want to be doing her position, aka job. Literally asked me to refer to my menu when I asked her a question about how many pieces came in something. I’m sorry, but I don’t leave my house for dinner to get bullied and leave a restaurant hungry. To say the least, you don’t want to leave the house in for this place. Absolutely not worth it. And actually the three of us were in the worst moods when we left bc of it. Do not waste your money!!! Period.
Nice and polite staff! Was not impressed by the sushi . It was all falling apart. Prefer authentic japanese sushi places with japanese chefs.
This place should be 4.5*. Been coming here for years and the quality is the best I've tried in Del Mar. Another great visit today!
Nice food! Totally recommend this restaurant!
Good things first: nice design, comfy seating, friendly and efficient staff. Not as good as hoped for: food. As far as Japanese cuisine goes, the place is average to below average. Miso soup which I often use as a test of the food quality, was bland and had no body - likely made from concentrate with too much water added. Agedashi tofu was made using the wrong tofu kind and was undersalted and sauce that comes with it was bland and not making up for it. The bento box content was far from quality as well. Sushi roll rice was too lose, beef was cold, tough and tasteless and the salad… better not talk about the salad, OK?.. BUT: service was very nice. Oh, another good thing: the hot green tea was Okay albeit made using the teabag.
Solid sushi reasonably priced. The lunch bentos are a good deal.
The atmosphere was nice, food and staff was good too
Servicio super amable, comida rica. Gracias!
