There are half a dozen Japanese restaurants on Castro Street, this is the only one I frequently went to for dinner with family or for lunch with friends. Unfortunately, it does not have outdoor seating, otherwise, it would be much more popular during lunch hours under the dreamy California sunshine ☀️ cheers!
Overall, I think it’s a good place to grab something quick. I ordered Shrimp Tempura Curry and my girlfriend ordered Bento. Shrimp tempura is OK. Not the most crispy I have got, but not bad. Rice with curry is a little sticky, and I personally think it will taste better if it’s drier or more separated. Bento has a lot small dishes. My girlfriend likes it. The door is a little annoying as people are constantly going in and out. Maybe something softly closes the door or at least prevents the noise will improve the dining experience a lot.
I am thoroughly pleased how great this authentic izakaya is on the unassuming Castro St of Mountain View. The food here is awesome. My sake avocado roll is thicker than my thighs. The black miso cod was good; not the best I've had but good in a pinch. The chirashi don w/ miso soup was incredible for the price. Kappo Nami Nami is Castro St's best kept secret. No frills & authentic Japanese food. Come here for a quiet yet intimate Japanese culinary experience.
The rice is always awesome!
Kappo Nami Nami was one of the first Japanese restaurants in the area that I found to be good. I love coming here with my wife and have always had a good experience. Unfortunately, today was their last day. Thank you for everything and I wish them the best in the future.
Always great sushi and sashimi! Very fresh fish.
The restaurant has been permanently closed. I like lots of Japanese foods like hot pot, porridge, cod and so on. This place isn't a simply Sushi place, it has the Japanese stuff rather than some Americanized dishes. The chef and waiter are Japanese but with good English. So I mean experience is well balanced. The environment is good too. Not in a fast food setup, I do see lots of people dating there in the past years. The new owner will remodel and bring their own menu. I don't know the futures are but would put a footprint here to memorize this restaurant Parking: Mountain View dt has couple of free public parking Kid-friendliness: They have chairs for kid
