The worst experience. The food is what you would get at a very basic Japanese restaurant - or delivered at home by a neighborhood restaurant on a rainy night. While the price is definitely much higher than what you would pay for a meal at a similar place. A place to avoid.
My friend and I did omakase and it wasn’t the best. I’ve had better one with $250 range. It’s definitely overrated and I probably wouldn’t come back here at least not for the omakase. Decent sake collection though.
Love Kappo Masa for a special meal. Anything on the menu is delicious and the sashimi is always so fresh.
Absolutely gorgeous food! Best hidden gem in UES
Incredibly underwhelming. Take the reviews as they are, but I adore food and this place is a Big Swing and a Huge Miss.
We eat were often and I feel bad but over last few months lots of management changes and food quality at every level as dropped markedly. Just not sure how it went from amazing food to not good. Maybe seafood vendor changed or ownership ?
My 10th or so visit to this restaurant. Not every time has been perfect. This one was. Had the Salmon Caviar, A5 w White Truffles, Uni w White truffles, seaweed salad, sautéed spinach, duck tacos, uni w truffles, miso crème brûlée, and sake and half a bottle of champagne. Over $1000 w tip for two people. A lot of money for sure, but this is NYC, and it was top notch. Service, food and atmosphere were as close to 3 Star Mich (like its Masa namesake) as you can get.
