The food is amazing. They’re getting points deducted for their service. I made a reservation for two on a Friday night at 7:45. I ended up calling them an hour before my resy to ask if I could move it to 8:00 instead. They said not a problem. I show up at 8:00 and they said there were no tables available unless I wanted to squeeze into a corner where it would literally be impossible to eat — I said no and asked how long the wait would be. They said over an hour and I was baffled. They said they had to cancel a lot of reservations tonight. I literally have never had this happen anywhere and never have heard of this happening anywhere?? let alone a Friday night in NYC??? I asked why I was not made aware of this when I called in and why would they do this? They didn’t have an answer. The staff was extremely apologetic though. Before we left, one staff said they’d comp our drinks if we wanted to wait and another apologized profusely saying she would give us a $50 voucher and hopefully we would come back to try their food. My friend asked how we would receive the credit and she said she would send it to our email that made the reservation via Resy. So we leave. But by then, 30 mins had passed by and we just decided to go back and see how much longer a wait would be. Around another 45 minutes so we decided to just stay because the food smelled so good. The staff was verrrry nice. They comped our drinks (one beer $10, and a coconut drink $5) while we stood waiting in a corner for the next table to open up. We had a great time, enjoyed our food and when the bill came out, the staff said they have “never heard of a $50 credit.” They asked me to show them who said that but apparently the girl already left her shift?? I asked them what the girl’s role in the restaurant is because why would she say that? I honestly would have asked them to call her but it was getting late and they were really nice despite this happening. They did ended up giving us a discount for the whole situation but I’m just taken aback by what happened. I would still recommend this place to everyone but I would call in to truly confirm if you have a resy or not. I’ve never heard of a restaurant cancelling multiple reservations without alerting the customers… and to have this happen on a Friday night in NYC!!! Crazy but at least the workers were nice!

Super friendly staff! I did forget my umbrella though I need to go back and get it someday haha. Enjoyed the food SO MUCH!!! It’s so chill for a night out!

Seriously delicious. Came here for the vegan mushroom sisig. Also tried the Laing and garlic rice. I’m salivating just thinking about it again. Highly recommend for anyone looking for Filipino comfort food but vegan.

My experience at Kalye restaurant was fantastic. From the delicious sisig to the fun boodle fight, every dish was a hit. Sure, the calamansi juice served in a can was a bit unexpected, but I went with the flow and embraced the local custom. Despite having to wait an extra 30 minutes for our reserved spot, I understood that these things happen in busy establishments. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience filled with great food and a vibrant atmosphere.

Great welcoming low key restaurant with heated outdoor seating in addition to inside. Great visit - randomly picked this near Tenement Museum. Attentive wait staff. Friendly. Great Filipino food.
