Perfect sandwiches, the bread is crunchy outside and soft inside with delicious pork.
A San Diego classic. The new space has lost some of the charm, but feels much much on trend. Come for great baked goods, good sandwiches, and.... mmm those drinks! It's very busy during lunch and right as school lets out, but the turnaround is quick and the food and bev are worth it. Explore their menu and find your favorite, then explore again and find more.
Most of the items on the menu were foreign to me and I have no idea what they are since they don't have a detailed description. I chose the bacon and egg croissant since I knew what that is. I wandered around and saw spinach, kale and feta pastries that looked good and cherry turnovers which are my downfall but I made it out alive without buying them. I doubt that I shall be so lucky next time. Back to my sandwich which the croissant was bigger than my hand! I was surprised and almost finished the whole thing even though I was expecting 1/2 the size. 4 stars for not having menu description in English on the left list of items.
I have eaten here in the past and it has been fine. Better than fine. I really don't like leaving bad reviews. If I don't like a place I generally just don't go back. In this case I feel like a negative review is warranted. My wife, daughter, and I went in for lunch today. It was busy, but not crazy busy. My wife doesn't eat meat, so I suggested she order the vegetable Bahn Mi sandwich. I ordered a turkey & cheese. Her sandwich was pretty much all jicama sticks and not much else. There was an actual stalk of cilantro in it. Not a thin stalk either. A big thick stem with a couple of giant leaves on it. There was also an unknown ingredient in there that basically tasted like cardboard. A Bahn Mi sandwich should have pickled veggies on it. Right? Carrot, cucumber, possibly jicama, cilantro, and onion. That's pretty much what every other Bahn Mi I've eaten has, and I've eaten hundreds. Also the bread was stale. My turkey sandwich had absolutely no condiments on it. No mayo, mustard. Nothing. Very little turkey. It was mostly lettuce. They attempted to put tomato on it and one of the slices was the stem end of the tomato. I went back and pointed out there was no condiments on there and they sort of tossed me a couple of mayo packets. By the time we realized how crappy these sandos were, they were half eaten and the place had gotten crowded. At the prices they are charging, there is just no excuse for lackluster, carelessly assembled sandwiches. It's a real shame because I have really liked K in the past and have sent others there as a place to eat. Boo!
