Really good food. Small servings. I wanted two orders of the rigatoni!
Our fourth visit to Josephine Estelle did not disappoint!! The seasonal fruit place is the MOST BEAUTIFUL of any “fresh fruit” I have had in a restaurant. Not only does it look great, the fruit was the sweetest! Fresh and Tasty!! Dequincy, our waiter, set the standard for EXCELLENCE IN SERVICE. If you can plan to be there when the Jazz trio is playing, you don’t want to miss! This place is truly a GEM!!
Food was bland and underwhelming to be honest.
I took the opportunity to check out Josephine Estelle for a solo dinner on a work trip on the advice of a friend, and I’m so glad I did! The food was outstanding—I had the Parmesan sformato to start, which was both delicate and decadent, and the mushrooms on the side were delicious. I also had the spaghetti nero, which was an absolute star. The mussels were fresh and briny, and the panna grata added a great texture. And the service! Totally above and beyond. My server, Ryan, was incredibly attentive and kind. I had forgotten a book, and as if reading my mind, another staff member came over with a selection of things to read, including - swoon! - a book of Gwendolyn Brooks poetry. After my meal, I was offered a taste of a natural wine from Piedmont - as though they knew northern Italian whites were a fave! All in all, the best meal of my trip. I can’t wait to go back!
Fantastic food and service
Service was not a good experience. When we checked in at the hostess stand they apparently forgot to put us on the books. They told us the wait was ~10 minutes. After a few drinks at the bar and 25 minutes later (and seeing a few other people without reservations being led to tables) we asked about ours. Turns out they forgot to put us down. But instead of being led to the table straight away, we had to wait another 20 minutes, so 45 minutes total. When we were led back we were surprised to see how much space was available the entire time. About 11 tables were populated. The kitchen also had enough capacity , because they would have let us order at the bar (but who wants to eat a $70+ meal at the bar??) Our server was also quite brusque, absolutely not the standard we are used to in the US.
