I've been coming to Joanne for over a decade, and popped in last night for the first time in a few years. I'm so disappointed at how this place has deteriorated in terms of service, food quality, and overall experience. Their menu is now via iPads they hand you at your table, prices are outrageous ($17.95 for a cannoli, $32 for spaghetti - what?!), and the overall atmosphere and experience went from feeling UWS chic/quaint a few years ago to just downright depressing. This place will continue to do good business solely because of its ties to Lady Gaga, but wow, I'm so disappointed in how far this place has fallen.
Truth be told I most have ordered wrong. I'm all for Lady GAGA and supporting the family's endeavors in any way possible - but Italians should get penne w/ white clam sauce right. Ambiance cozy. Service fine. And of course the namesake which is near and dear to the owner's heart - Joanne's. His sister who died of Lupus.
