If you open a tab they add 21% "tip"
Beware of getting scammed here. I was out with some friends celebrating my birthday at axe throwing and decided to stop here for a couple of drinks right after. Definitely feels like a college bar at this point, so wouldn't go back for that reason. It looked like half of the customers were younger than 21. In reading other reviews, it seems common that they knowingly allow underage patrons in as long as they pay at the door. Let me get to my main point here… the focus of this review is on them blatantly scamming me. I only paid for one drink on my own credit card that night at JJ's. It was for a high noon, which was priced at $7.70 before any tax or tip. The receipt had line items below it for 10% alcohol tax, and then a 21% "mandatory service charge", totaling to $10.10 at the bottom of the receipt. Since they already added a mandatory 21% tip to the bill, I didn't wish to add any additional tip. I wrote a horizontal line through the tip line area and wrote $10.10 as the final total. They don't give you copies of the receipt for you to keep, so I don't have any record of it on me. I checked my credit card statement today and it shows a posted charge of $11.11 from JJ Bootleggers. It's not what I wrote on my receipt, but it's also not enough extra money charged for me to waste the time out of my day to contact my credit card company, reach out to the business, etc. so they know EXACTLY what they are doing with adding a small unauthorized amount to my tab. Dirty scammers, fraudulent workers, would avoid at all costs.
I had went out on a friday with my friends and the girl bartender was one of the rudest girls i have ever dealt with . As a server her service as a bartender was awful and will not be coming back she had name called one of the guys I was with . Very inappropriate.
Owner and doormen are my people here. Just know how to handle your drinks and be of age and you should have a fun time
Taylor is the best bartender ever!! He made the drinks so good!!
Third time here and third time been scammed by the bartenders who say it's an accident. First time was during Halloween. they took $25 and said they thought it was a tip after we ordered one single drink. Second time they said they accidently gave the wrong change. Tonight they took my $20 bill for a corona and got $9 back when we questioned the price. they said a corona is $9. told them they gave $9 change. and they said it was an accident. way to many accidents. either really bad with math or just scamming. Just watch your money and check your change.
Honestly just go somewhere else, wasted my time, money, & gave my friends a bad representation of Philly
If i could give zero stars, i would. My friend and I paid 20 each for cover to go inside. It was so crowded in there, we could not even make it across the floor to the bar or bathroom. There was absolutely no place to stand, and i could see a stampede happening anytime. Ended up leaving after 30 seconds because it was a safety hazard. My friend even got her face scratched by someone in the crowd because it was just THAT CROWDED. They refused to give us any money back despite pointing out the safety hazard and there was no way they were up to code with the amount of people jammed packed in there.
Don’t usually review bars I was in for 20 mins but this was a special case. Went here on a Friday night, the place was gross, floor sticky, tables all had spills on them, so my friends and I decided we’d have only 1 drink and leave. I got a shot of tequila trying to make it quick. ONE shot of tequila at one of the grossest bars I’ve ever walked into costed me $18.19. tf? What a rip off. Get over yourself, JJ Bootleggers
