Not Jacks donuts any longer. New establishment. Donuts were fresh, however tasted artificial.
So as many know I truly believe that you’ve got to give a new place a few months to get on their feet after opening a new location. This chain opened a new shop on the corner of Lockwood Ridge and University in Sarasota in the Detwiller’s plaza a while back and I stopped in yesterday for a coffee and donut to go. The chocolate glazed yeast donut was a total disaster as they just don’t mix and I notice that I’m not the first reviewer to say this. The glazed old fashioned cake donut may have been better if it wasn’t stale before it was glazed. My biggest pet peeve is when I ask for cream in my coffee and I watch my server using “Great Value Walmart” brand half and half. While some may say that “it’s just half and half” it raises some red flags and has me looking at other little things around the place and I see that this somewhat obscure location is kinda dirty and looks like folks need to focus on some more cleanliness issues. There’s multiple “boutique donut shops “ in the area and I think I will stick with Five-O at UTC for a while.
Like the coffee flavors very unique, I order door dash from here often.
Place is great! Good people Sarah you Rock! Reasonable pricing similar to chain shops but much higher quality which is why they sell out by 11 am you guys need to try some yum!
Good service and delicious food!
Arrive early! We arrived around 10am and they were just about out of donuts! Our family of eight pretty much cleaned them out after arriving…looks like they have a great selection. The donuts were delicious.
I am from outside New Castle in Mooreland and relocated to Manatee County 1986. I was thrilled to find out Jack's had opened a donut shop so close to me. The long john/eclairs were just as I remembered.
The is for the shop on Lockwood and University Parkway. If you are going to have a filled donut don’t get them here. A speck of filling is all I got. Tasted fried. Did not care for them.
Showed up barely 2 hours after opening and nearly half the doughnut varieties were already gone (with nothing else being made). Prices are sky high but the quality is "not bad". Doughnuts were decent enough but overall experience left a lot to be desired.
