My family and I used to eat gumbo from this location for many years in the past, but I was very disappointed when I went yesterday for an early Mardi Gras dish. The ladies who were working didn't seem too enthusiastic to be there...no greeting or ask how they could help us. I am vegetarian, so I was very excited about the bumblebee stew. The food was ready quickly and we didn't have to wait long...for take out. What was very unfortunate was when I went to eat my lunch and found ONLY 3 BLACK BEANS. The dish was supposed to be black beans, corn, tomatoes, and yummy spices on white rice. There was too much corn, little to no black beans, and the rice was under cooked. Not impressed!!!
Always love j gumbos! They let you have samples of different kinds to find one you like the best. Great meal to have at anytime especially during the cold though.
Went that for lunch today, had an amazing experience, Nikki, the lady who is there was amazing. If I could give more stars I would! Kid-friendliness: They do small kid sized portions, my son loved the beans and rice with sausages.
We ate there about a week ago and had a great experience. The food was delicious, the prices were very reasonable (I think we each paid about 10-11 dollars), and we loved the old school Coke ads on the wall. They have a lot of great options on their menu. Nicky, who took our order and talked a bit with us was great. Genuine customer service. Definitely recommend eating here if you like this style of food!
These reviews either have no taste buds or do not know what gumbo is supposed to taste like. Placed an order to go Dec 9 2023 . I had the gumbo and jambalaya . Both dishes were bland and had a whole lot of ingredients but no seasoning. The gumbo tasted like refried beans. Oh and every single piece of toast was burnt , you literally can make your own garlic toast at home(since it’s just normal sliced bread) . Being from the Florida / Louisiana area(s) I honestly did not like this nor would I call this gumbo . It tasted more like red beans and rice (again without seasoning) barely any sausage in the gumbo also. Gumbo tasted burnt and even had flakes where you can tell it was scraped from the bottom of the pot . Washed down Midwest cuisine. Way over priced as well. Only people who truly don’t know what gumbo is, or what cuisine like this is supposed taste like, can stomach this. Better off making your own jambalaya from the box or getting some dirty rice . Very disappointed.
