I like the vibe here and felt transported to a whole new world as I arrived. It’s a sub level establishment which if you blink you might miss it but their outdoor patio seating hinted that I was at the right place which I questioned myself since this is a very expensive neighborhood and not one you expect a Yakitori place. I ordered a bunch of skewers and it did not break the bank. There are some dishes you don’t see much like fried skewers which I feel did not taste as good as grilled ones. They got raw octopus app which usually served cooked most places. This was spicy with wasabi. Crowd picks up around 6p and I imagine packed around 7p and this was a weekday.
Food was really mediocre for the high price. It wasn't well flavored and often overcooked to the point of being dry. I was really disappointed by the grilled mentaiko specifically which had the texture of chalk when it was overcooked. Disappointing since I normally love mentaiko. Service was okay but they pressure you to add 18% minimum tip which I think defeats the point of a tip (adding because I enjoy the food/service). No where was it written there's a minimum tip. I really dislike those pressure tactics. Also the tip is added from the after tax totals. Not cool. Don't come here, there are better yakitori places with good food and service.
Loved the skewers and beer! Everything we order was great. We popped in after work without a reservation with no issue.
Definitely one of my favorite yakitori spots. This place can get packed at night although the wait usually moves pretty quickly, it can be long if your timing is unlucky. I really only ever get yakitori here. They have a lot of fried options, I gave a lot of them a try, but never really liked any of them (and I generally like fried food, who doesn't?!?) maybe I am just more familiar with the traditional grilled yakitori, I would recommend sticking mostly with that. I can't say which item is my favorite, I really like everything! Definitely ask for extra lemon wedges, the acid really goes well with the smokiness of the meats. Can't wait to come back again!
Decent spot..Food was pretty good too. Prices are a bit steep. Service was a bit rushed but they were at least attentive. Happy hour isnt too bad (5 dollar kirin beer and chuhai). Probably wouldn't go again unless I'm in the area. Open Mondays!
Amazing place for dates or friends catching up! Small and intimate. So happy I got to try the Kushikatsu! Good crunch, texture and flavors! Amazing skewers, you can taste the freshness in the ingredients. Will definitely come back!!!
Best yakitori in NYC, great happy hour, and a good all around menu. Love this place
The skewers are the beef pot is also very good. However, the agedashi tofu is very plain. The service was good there, and the waitress helped us cook the beef pot. Something I dislike was the cleanness of the toilet area. It’s very dirty.
