I am so surprised by the amount of customers when the food is so poor, portions are tiny and the prices are outrageous. I cannot recommend this place for any reason at all and I wish I could get my money back.
This place was great value and super yummy! The nigiri sushi and rolls are really good (preferred over sashimi) and same with the robata. Staff and atmosphere are nice too. Plus it’s mostly Asians dining so you know it’s legit :)
Food poisoning. Don’t eat their oysters
Had dinner last night and have to say… the meal was very good, everything that we expected as a first time diner was met. Living in Napa ( and dining in San Francisco) and experiencing quality food and service our expectations are high and we thoroughly enjoyed the meal. the service was excellent as well, different staff continuously checked on us, everyone was extremely pleasant….and the place was completely filled ( read reviews re the noise, loud but you could certainly carry on a conversation)Overall I’m giving this place 2 up…..PS the bottle of sake was excellent also….
I tried Izakaya Hachi a couple nights ago.. The atmosphere was very nice. The table areas were clean and set very nicely. The staff was pleasant but it was hard to figure out who was waiting which areas and who to contact if you needed something. I ordered a seared tuna dish that was very tasty. However, I was surprised to see the main sushi chef working with teh raw fish and raw meat his bear hands, then touching the refrigerator handle, wiping things off the counter to and then handling the raw ingredients again. The portions were VERY small for the price. I ordered an additional roll which was tasty but very small. He scooped the rice with his bear hands and handled the raw fish again. It seemed like a high-end Japanese want-to-be. I probably will not be back. Hope this is constructive so you can make appropriate changes. Good luck.
Hachi Izakaya was a tad loud, but I guess the restaurant cannot be faulted for that. Seating was western style. We brought a bottle of Kubota Manju, which they do not sell there. Their corkage fee was $30 which is normal. They did make up for the loud ambiance (some patrons were literally screaming) with their food. Hachi Izakaya has a special emphasis on charbroiled dishes as well as their sushi/sashimi which were both delightful. We had to wait a bit for the bill but after all the service was a good 4. This is the second time I went there and their food and service was consistently good both times. Not cheap but well worth it in my opinion.
One of my most favorite Japanese restaurants. Very decent delicious food, beef intestine, pork hotpot and beef tongue are my must order dishes. But the changes hand pull noodle in hotpot set to regular yellow ramen this year, I loved the old style noodle way much more
Great atmosphere to drink a pitcher or Sapporo while taking in some eats. Chefs are focused on their tasks and wait staff knew when to ask and when to leave us be.
