Island Tropics Restaurant

Not real island food the owners are not Caribbean just profiting off the culture and trying to hire Caribbean cooks/workers to play the puppets. The food used to be good but not these days. I would try a REAL island spot if I was you. The female owner (the wife) is rude as h3ll. You never know who you are talking to in life so you should be kind to others miss girl. Either way it seems this wanna be Caribbean place is going in a downward spiral so Goodluck.

For starters.... Mac and cheese? Bomb! The rice with thr oxtail?! I'm convinced I didn't leave a good enough tip after coming here out of all seriousness. The food is good, the price for the portion is fair, they put love in their dishes, you can taste it. I can say with confidence that I will be coming back, and continue to come back and recommend more people to come check them out if I get on the topic with anyone that I come across and they mention "places to eat in Jacksonville Florida". This restaurant will be my very first recommendation because they're like that in all honesty!

My spouse went a couple times and the oxtails were good even got a smoothie which was really good but today I wanted oxtails and he got there early sad to say he was given old food you could smell that it wasn't right the oxtails had no taste the rice was soaked with grease fat the cabbage was fair the food was so bad I threw it up

I wanted to like this place so bad even tried it twice. The food is so bland like there's literally no seasoning and it baffles me as a Jamaican that all of this food could be made but not a lick of salt and no taste of Caribbean food AT ALL. It's a no for me I even tried the food on two different days and it was just BLAND so disappointed. Caribbean Sunshine their food is wayyyy better

Island Tropics has been my go-to Jamaican restaurant for at least the last 6 years. Their food is consistent, always fresh, and plentiful. The container can barely close, and I'm definitely not complaining about that. I feel like they give your money's worth. There was a recent price increase, but the price of everything in the world is rising, so I understand they probably had no choice. Nonetheless, the food is always on point. I've had a variety of items, and everything is solid. Even the smoothies are so good. Recently, I had a hankering for oxtail, rice and peas, and cabbage so I stopped by, and this time, I managed to take a pic. It's as delicious as it appears. If you're looking quality authentic Jamaican cuisine, give them a try. As a lover of Reggae and Dancehall music, I always enjoy the Jamaican tunes that they play as well. It's always a vibe.

That Jerk Chicken and the Curry Goat!! Yessss !!

This was absolutely a disappointment. This has to be the worst Caribbean food I’ve ever had . As someone who grew up eating authentic oxtail and rice n peas this made me upset. ALL the meat was tough . No tenderness at all . The rice was under cooked and the Mac n cheese speaks for itself .
