Never have I ordered sushi and had raw sushi taste burnt it’s like they prepared it on a dirty cutting board and rolled up burnt food into it and when I brought it up they were like oh and handed me the $70 dollar bill I’ll never comeback use to be good now it’s just terrible

During our trip to Fairbanks, our family decided to dine at a Japanese restaurant on our last day. Unfortunately, our experience left much to be desired. To begin with, we waited for what felt like an eternity (approximately 10 minutes) before a waitress finally took our order. To our surprise, she informed us that a mandatory 15% tip would be added to our bill. This policy seemed unreasonable, especially considering the subpar service we received. It would be beneficial for the restaurant to clearly display their tipping policy to avoid any misunderstandings and feelings of being misled. Additionally, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. We ordered sushi rolls, but were disappointed to find that the rice was overly dry, almost as if it had been prepared the day before. This fell far below our expectations for a Japanese restaurant.

As a new school teacher, my income is limited, with most of it going towards bills. To make ends meet, I take on extra contracts whenever possible but I still struggle to keep my nose above the water. Because of this, I rarely dine out. I hadn't had a Valentine's Day date in nearly a decade though so I decided to treat myself. However, when the bill arrived after my date and I ordered sushi and tea, I could only afford to tip $5. While I understand it wasn't much, it was all I could manage. Having worked jobs where tips were crucial, I empathize with the tipping struggle but those jobs taught me to believe that most people tip what they can. Since then I have always tipped this way as well. I was embarrassed and taken aback when the waitress (who we believe was the owner) came back to our table and insisted on a higher tip saying that 15-20% is what it should be.. I did not even have words at this point, I was so embarrassed, I couldn’t even look at my date, I just paid the requested amount feeling ashamed and left as soon as I could… I will not be returning again..

My go-to spot for sushi! Highly recommended doing a quick stop by or a dine in. I would recommend avoiding lunchtime on a Friday. It could get hectic
