Good service and atmosphere but I really didn't find the food all that great, my chicken was kind of rubbery and pretty small portions and my wife only got like 3 shrimp in her risotto. Considering that it was like $60 per person that's kind of a problem, I would have been OK with it and give 5 stars if it was only $20.
The overall rating for this restaurant based on our experience is between 3 and 4 stars. On a positive note, if you are looking for a great atmosphere, this place is unbeatable. The outside string lights, the music, the Italian accent and cordial smiles of the hosts all make this restaurant feel quite authentic. It also helps that the little plaza where the restaurant is situated is very cozy and generally quiet, providing a peaceful experience. As for the food at Il Forno... We were not so impressed with it and expected more. The gnocchi my daughter ordered felt quite bland and dry, and tasted a bit too much like garlic (a sauce was definitely missing; it would have made the dish more 'alive'). The pasta that I ordered had a lot of prosciutto in it that tasted somewhat strange (imagine 'boiled' prosciutto pieces- yes, that's what it tasted like) and made the dish very, very salty. Sorry, did not like it. The wait for the food was also quite significantly longer than we anticipated. Regardless, we will give this place another chance, given its history. Hopefully next time the food will taste better.
