I always come here because the food and service is fantastic--and I happen to live close by. The all you can eat sushi selection is really the best I've ever had in this category, including properly portioned nigiri and sashimi pieces; generously portioned rolls, and a wide range of cooked Japanese comfort food that really hit the spot. I say "properly portioned" because I feel like what makes a piece of nigiri sushi (or sashimi) really good is considerations of not just the taste, and the "lack of fishiness" of sushi, but the texture, firm/soft-ness, and the *size* of the piece. For someone like me, that means not having to cut the pieces of nigiri into smaller bite-sized pieces--I want it to just fit easily so that I can really taste it for all it's worth. As many have commented here, the fish tastes fresh, and does not have that "bad-fishiness" often feared by some newcomers to the world of raw fish. The prices are very reasonable, which may make some suspicious about the quality, but as a lifelong lover of raw fish, I think I Love Sushi sets the standard of freshness and quality to this day. I always have very fresh fish here, both in-restaurant AND takeout. So if you're looking to try sushi for the first time, this is a very good (and very personably nice!) place to start a new gastronomical adventure. The mackerel (saba), which is often seen as one of the fishiest of the sushi fishes, has what I think is "good-fishiness." This also applies to their salmon. Other fish I really like here are izumidai (tilapia), hamachi (yellowtail), maguro (bluefin tuna), shiro maguro (albacore tuna). Fish that I don't often find at other all you can eat that I really like--and which are part of what makes this place really stand out to me--are hokkigai (surf clam), ika (squid), and tako (octopus). I also love their ikura (salmon roe) sushi/gunkan-maki, as well! Whenever my partner and/or I go there, Wendy, Kimmy, and the sushi chefs are always so happy to see us and welcome us back, and it's so comforting to be there after a really hard day at work. I feel like they really care about us as people. As others have noted, a few months ago there was some issue with some server who seemed a bit impatient with customers (I don't know her name). THAT BEING SAID, I feel like I Love Sushi really cares about treating their customers well, and I learned that they addressed issue with the rude worker there in light of what their customers say. I've always had a great experience here otherwise, so a rude worker wouldn't put me off--but their doing this has shown me that they do care about how their customers feel, and listen to what people say. This is hands-down the best sushi place to go to for my partner and me in Davis! I'm so glad I live so close to them. Having them so close by has been part of my reasons to stay in my community since moving here three years ago :). Dietary restrictions: If you're not into raw fish, they have plenty of Japanese comfort foods that are cooked and delicious--even in the all-you-can-eat menu! :)

From start to finish, an experience worth coming back for; this will not be our last time here. We are making this our go to Japanese spot in Davis moving forward. My fam LOVES sushi and they never have it with me because of the limited vegan/vegetarian options. Despite the mixed reviews, decided to give it a whirl because I did see things I can have and wanted to make it a special date for my fam. On several reviews the top complaints referenced terrible service and dry, tasteless food. Both I can dispute based on my experience. Wendy and her team were so attentive, placed our order at 7:11 pm and was dining at 7:20! Nothing at all to complain about. We had the teriyaki chicken meal and an avocado salad, the house tea (green tea/rice blend) and a taste of their delicious coffee cake for dessert. Plenty of parking in the plaza lot. They have an outstanding all you can eat menu that we will try in the near future. Vegetarian options: You can ask to add or remove! They are so nice to confirm if you have doubts.

I've been here a few times and I'm not sure why I keep coming back. The food is just okay. And their customer service sucks. If you do an online order please make sure that you write down in Big bolt letters your confirmation number because they will never have your name. I will never return here again.

Vegetarian options: The girls order veg. Rolls all the time. If you have a non-veg. Make sure to ask for separate plates!
