As always - the hush puppies, slaw, crab cake and the flounder was absolutely delicious! Josh was a great server!

Our first time here. Food was great, especially the hushppies! But server got our order all wrong because she was paying more attention to the bigger party next to us.

Saw something online that said Hyman’s had really great hush puppies. That alone got us there. Mid-afternoon, only one room open. Told it would be a 30 minute wait. And true to their word it was it was…well actually only 25 minutes. (Service star number 1) ⭐️ The atmosphere is what it is. Not fancy or trendy. But that’s not what we were looking for. Just simple decor that speaks of years of history with autographed pics of famous patrons. Tables were not crowded too closely, very clean (even the ladies room was spotless and that speaks volumes about the rest of the place). Wait staff dressed simply but dignified - no ripped jeans, etc). Now for the food: extensive menu, though mostly seafood, there are still several other options. We only planned on a snack but since the first order of hushpuppies was on the house (maybe just that day?) we proceeded to order the Carolina Delight - a “grit cake” topped with shrimp and a sauce. It was absolutely delicious. The hushpuppies were wonderful as well. Neither greasy nor dry. Perfect, crispy texture and slightly sweet. Loved them so much we ordered a second batch. The owner, Mr. Hyman came to welcome us and inquire as to how we were enjoying our visit there. He was so nice and sincere about wanting our honest opinion that in retrospect he, too, was part of what made our experience there pleasant and makes us want to return. Bonus: we were also given a complimentary appetizer - lobster dip and crackers. Very tasty. All in all I highly recommend giving Hyman’s a try. We really loved the whole experience!

Famous and good. You're not settling for an OK meal just to experience this iconic and historic restaurant. Boil was tasty and messy, and hush puppies delicious.
