The Hungry Crab is a great place! The food is terrific, reasonably priced, and the staff is very friendly, but as always seems to be the case, there is a catch. They advertise themselves as a family friendly dining experience, so I went with mine, at 6 PM on a Sunday, and they were literally blasting gangsta rap. Worse than that, it was completely unedited! There were other families and even children in there, and they had the nerve to be blasting 50, Biggie, Nas, and Tupac out of the speakers! Literally every other word was F this and N word that, it was ridiculous! You would have thought you were in a bar, but it’s not a bar, it wasn’t late, and the place wasn’t empty, there were kids there, so why in the world would you be playing that stuff, much less at that volume! It really turned me off to the place. I may return to do take out, but I highly doubt I’ll ever take my family there again and I have to say, unless you don’t mind the blasting of obscenities throughout your meal, I wouldn’t take yours there either.
The portions were impressive. But the food left a lot to be desired. I ordered surf n turf and I only like 15% of what was on my plate. The steak tasted like it had been in a freezer for too long. The lobster had more mashed potatoes stuffing that meat. The tail was TINY. The broccoli looked beautiful but it also tasted like it had been in the freezer too long. The mashed potatoes were good but very oily. I also ordered the crispy calamari and it was oddly sweet…like the batter had sugar in it. Our server was really friendly and the service was really fast, but I probably wouldn’t eat here again, or recommend it.
