Got the seating quickly especially on the weekend. Ordered the following : Chicken pesto sandwich - It was good really liked it with crispy home fries. Special French toast - Usually French toast doesn’t come with cinnamon but this place was an exception. I really can’t stand the smell of it honestly it should’ve been mentioned on the menu. Pancakes - They were fluffy and crispy on the side. The server didn’t even put efforts to take off the cinnamon French toast from our table even after mentioning about it. I did ordered pancakes instead. Overall it wasn’t a great experience. Thank you

Food was incredibly greasy. I felt sick afterwards. I got the fryer up. Not well seasoned. Tea was your typical low quality tea from a bag. I got the tea because I know I will be eating fried food so tea usually helps cut the greasiness. But I really liked the chocolate homemade pancakes!! They were nice. Not too sweet and super fluffy. It had a bit of an alcohol taste but not sure what was in it. As soon as I started eating the food, my stomach was feeling queasy. My partner and I got the same dish and he was having digestion issues all day.. same with me but not as severe. I wanted to go the bathroom… I recommend to make the food less greasy, don’t dunk the toast in butter or oil (it was incredibly oily). I’m not sure if they are using paper towels to absorb any excess grease for the sausage and bacon and try not to pick up too much of the oil after frying the egg. The hash browns were good (but how can you go wrong with potatoes?). It was a bit overcooked on the outside but inside was kinda tough. Not as soft, fluffy and crispy as I would like.. perhaps they didn’t prep them properly? I’m not a fan of the black pudding. It was kind of sweet. It wasn’t very savoury. I’m confused. I prefer the Romanian black sausage and even the Korean soon dae (blood sausage with glass noodles). Environment was nice and friendly… the waitress was very friendly and it was clear that they have regulars. I recommend the pancakes. :) Overall… we 2 got 2 fryer ups, 1 pancake special, 1 tea. Paid $80 including HST and tip…

Love this brunch spot! 2 of my friends are gluten free so it was nice finding a place with many gluten free options. The gluten free fried chicken & pancakes were delicious!

Had breakfast with two of my boys this morning enyoyed my time with them When we finished our breakfast the server asked us if we wanted anything else ,we said we were good I looked at her and said one bill please The bill came I paid for the bill ,as it was a bit more then expected Idid not leave a tip on the machine and was going to leave cash I have family in the service history so I do understand how important it is to leave a tip We were getting our coats on and the server came out and asked if everything was okay , I said yes and she said IN FRONT OF MY FAMILY well you did not leave a tip ,when people dont leave a tip it usually means they weren't happy now I have to tip out the kitchen This was very unprofessional and in my option should of not happened I am very disappointed and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone

Really cute place for a date or close friends. I say that because the tables are very small and so this becomes a very intimate dining experience. That said the food was really enjoyable and the staff are fantastic- coffee is exceptional too!

Came here for a family brunch of 6 people and left fairly disappointed. There wasn't one standout issue, but a collection of minor ones that make Hugs & Sarcasm a cut below some of the other excellent brunch places in Toronto: - The service was quite slow - about 45 minutes to get our food - despite the place being quite empty when we arrived. - The food was decidedly mediocre - generally on the simpler and drier side. Two of us ordered the classic french toast but were given the special with smores instead, despite the waitress confirming with us which one we wanted. Ordering mistakes happen and we didn't bring it up because we didn't want to wait longer, but neither of us found the smores french toast to be a good combination. Everyone at the table considered the food average or below average compared to other options in the area. - Each table has a tablet displaying ads, which we found pretty distracting and annoying. We go to brunch to make conversation and eat, not to be served a constant loop of ads. The tablet couldn't be turned off or moved. - The POS terminals show the tip options in non-increasing order (options were 20%, 18%, 22% from left to right) instead of lowest to highest. This seems like a deliberate move to trick people, considering all other POS terminals display the tip options in a consistent way. We'd have considered giving Hugs & Sarcasm another visit for drinks (maybe brunch isn't their thing?) but this ended up being one issue too many for us.
