Upon hearing of a diner that prided itself on recreating the haberdasheries and the “completely open kitchens” (which do not exist) of the previous century, I was immediately intrigued. I had always been interested in dining at a diner that appeared to be straight out of a late 20th century cult-classic characters favorite spot. As soon as I entered the establishment, I noticed how excellent the place recreated the tried and true atmosphere of cinema eateries but I also noticed the closed and completely invisible kitchen. My misfortune began upon ordering a $5 brand bottled root beer as my initial beverage. A very high price for an average drink. Then began the true series of events that led to this disdain of mine for this restaurant. The gilded reviews, pictures, history, and atmosphere of the place was immediately destroyed upon being served the excuse of a medium steak, white rye toast, and scrambled eggs that I HAD ordered as “Steak and Eggs”. Instead I was given a very medium well (borderline well done) THIN steak, two RAW slices of white bread, and a folded egg patty that technically classifies as scrambled; in Australia…! To make it even worse, the included “homemade pickle spear” that was included in my dining partners meal was literally a cucumber dipped in a rather sour and bitter recreation of a legitimate marinade. Please! If you love the atmosphere of an old diner, come here, but just don’t order anything!

Not much atmosphere-BUT I came to E-A-T, and EAT I did! I order the grilled Mahi. Darn good on the grillmaster TONIGHT! A little salt and pepper and I could taste the Mahi! Here works someone who knows how NOT to ruin a superior cut of fish. Just to try my luck, I ask the Super waitress for Wasabi! I’ll be damned if she didn’t have it…try them out next time you’re in the area. I know why the reviews are as good as they are. Look for then sign on the restrooms too…he, she, them, they, alien…”Just wash your hands”. I LIKE IT!
