A long time favorite with new ownership and food quality downgrade. I've been going to House of Taipei for 25 yrs, back when it was in the university area and for the last 20 yrs across from Birkdale. It was our weekly must go to restaurant. The ownership change 2 yrs ago led to a mass exodus of the people we knew and the food quality is just awful. Gone are the days of fresh broccoli and snow peas.. now its soggy frozen stuff. Chicken must be frozen too as its texture has changed. The sauces are now all off with far too much oil. I'm so sad.. its like a best friend that is gone.
Food was subpar. Restaurant was very dirty including the menus. Carpet was nasty. Service was good.

Recently, ordered Singapore noodles given it was around closing time. But, noodles over-cooked, no flavor missing curry. Although, portion was huge and chicken, shrimp, beef cooked perfectly. My first review: This is the best freshest, well prepared, tasty dish, and fastest take out restaurant. I've tried the other places that have 4-5 stars but nothing they were average. The House of Taipan flavor is uniquely and yummy.
I’ve been eating at House of Taipei since I was a little girl when it was located at University. It’s sad that it has gone so downhill… mostly since COVID-19. Their food was so delicious and fresh, but it is not anymore. The service has always been a little “rude” by American standards, but it has become terrible (with one waitress in particular). I wish it would return to the way it was… we now eat Chinese from House of Leng, the owner used to work for the original House of Taipei and it is delicious!
It impressed at all by their sweet and sour chicken or general tsao
