HOT JOHNNIE’S SMOKEHOUSE

April 2024: Stopped by on a Saturday and picked up a bunch of sandwiches to go. Been trying to make it here for a long time and finally got to try the pastrami sandwiches! I had the dutch crunch and it was super delicious . The meat was smoked to perfection. I was surprised by how unsalted it tasted (in a good way). I liked the hint of spiciness with the pepperoncini pepper! I would definitely get this again! I also got a taste of the marble rye and it was tasty. No spiciness but it was very tasty. We tried the waffle fries, broccoli and coleslaw. I would get the fries again! Nice crunch even though we took the food to go. Service was friendly and fast. We waited about 10 minutes as the food was made fresh! Outdoor patio was fancy. There was a ping pong table and a covered seating area. This place is a treasure for delicious sandwiches!

Came here with 2 friends. We each ordered different items. Everything was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff too.

Great sandwiches and more. Back patio has plenty of room and has heaters.

How is this place still a hidden gem? Why are there not lines down the block? Johnnie's pastrami is arguably the best in the city. He continues to tweak and perfect his recipe, so it just gets better. The covered backyard patio is so nice and great for groups, the non-pastrami food is also delicious, and Johnnie himself is lovely, warm, and gracious.

Went back today and all I can say is that it’s better than last time! You gotta try the Porchetta nachos - they are “hella” tasty! I had the shrimp po’ boy and loved it. Ask for extra sauce on the side if you want it New Orleans style. Fantastic! We also got two Reuben’s and let Johnny customize them for us. And the chicken sandwich! Ah, a delight. I had doubts about the margarita but that seemed to disappear very quickly. I’d share a picture but we ate it all so fast.

Got the Texas Toast with Swiss cheese added. Delicious, great service and cute patio seating in the back with a ping pong table!

Muy malo. El sandwich de pastrami era infimo, con poco pastrami y muy grasoso. La pizza pequeña y solo un pan con queso. Carisimo por lo que sirven en este lugar. Adicionalmente cuando comiamos en el patio tuvimos una visita inesperada... asi que les recomendaria llamen al control de plagas... No puedo entender como tiene esa calificacion... quizas tuve muy pero muy mala suerte...

Delicious pastrami sandwiches! Johnnie knows his stuff and will kindly and patiently explain different combinations of breads, cheeses, and meats. There’s covered “outdoor” seating inside for a nice casual lunch.
