Really wanted to like this place, the menu looks really good, but on the day we went it took more than an hour for our food to come out due to a rush of takeout orders that backed up the kitchen, and when the food did come out it was cold! meaning it had been sitting there ready in the kitchen and just wasn't brought out to the table. The wait staff was friendly and apologetic, but every table in the restaurant was in the same boat as us - lots of complaints from everyone around us. May give it another try but they need to figure out how to manage their orders better.

If you like a good gumbo, do yourself a favor and come get a bowl here.

The food here is delicious if you can be patient. I’ve mentioned to the owner for years about creating reservations but he insists on first come first serve. Not ideal but if you’re in the neighborhood and don’t mind a wait it’s worth it

More than Homemade, The Homemade Cafe is filled with love. Besides having an old time delicious BABE sandwich the very thought that the proprietors offer free meal cards to be given away to the less fortunate is heartwarming. Your generosity and friendly family service will always be pleasingly acknowledged. Thank you

Great food

Monte Cristo sandwich had an over cooked chicken breast, collard greens had no flavor Needed to use the restroom but a homeless man was there first so I went back to my table, a homeless woman was charging her phone and told me to go around her...I don't recommend this place

I absolutely love Homemade Cafe's cozy atmosphere, delicious homemade dishes, and friendly staff.
