The service at the restaurant was fantastic and the place looked impressive. The potato salad was Da bomb and I'll be ordering that again. However, everything else was incredibly plain. The fried mac and cheese was tasteless and lacked the cheesy flavor that I was expecting. The breading needed more flavor, perhaps something like a garlic-parm breading. The Green Chili Quesadilla was good. The brisket, chicken, and pulled pork were all average, with minimal flavor on the bark and the sauces were not much help either. The collard greens and stew were both way too sweet for my taste. In conclusion, I would only consider returning to this restaurant for the potato salad.
Coming from a Texan, I was super impressed with the South Carolina barbecue. The pulled pork was a must eat, and I really enjoyed tasting all of the different sauces. When you're here, get the mac and cheese and try the vinegar sauce! Our server was also super attentive and helpful, and gave us information on what makes Eastern barbecue different than Texan.
Tried this place for the first time and enjoyed every bit of it! The food was amazing, service great, but the parking is going to be a hassle. Lol. We started with the smoked wings that were damn good. I had the 2 meat platter with turkey and pulled pork, cucumber and tomatoe salad and Brunswick stew. My mate had the fried ribs with hash and rice. I had to add a little salt and pepper to the stew, but it was still good. I'm not a fan of Alabama white sauce either. That would probably be the only thing I'll take off the fried ribs. Oh and I need more that two pieces of pickles! . Definitely will visit again!
