...3***1/2 average ramen n services..
Love Santouka salt ramen, it's always a favorite comfort soup for the whole family. So happy that there is now a location in Irvine, so we don't have to drive to Costa Mesa and lately there is no wait.
I like the ramen here and it's one of the foods I often come here to eat. However, the ramen I ate here today had cold meat and the broth wasn't very hot. This was my first time eating disappointing food here and I don't think I'll be going again for a while.
"Nothing like a bowl of good soup," I always say. I work at a ramen shop (shout out to SLR) so I feel guilty every time I eat here, but their soup is so I can't help it. I keep it simple and go with the Shio (salt) Ramen combo with an Ikura Salmon bowl. Comes out perfect every time Pro Tip #1 Find parking in the BACK of the plaza; there's a rear entrance that gives you direct access Tip #2 Ask for "mustard" to add to your soup. It's a game changer.
The base soup is not too greasy nor salty. Larger portions than expected. Pro/con that there are only 4 types of soups to choose from. But makes sense since most Ramen places have few variety. Their salt Ramen was good but the spicy miso tasted like Mala seasoning, which I'm not a fan of. The combo is just rice + whatever topping you choose so it's simple but it tasted great to dip the rice in the Ramen soup. Only wish is for them to have takuan as a default side menu to have a refreshing taste.
Good consistent ramen. Noodles are amazing - fresh….
