Hippo Grill Korean BBQ

Ordered meat jun through Uber Eats. The taste was really good and the sauce was amazing. The only downfall was the meat was veeeeery thin. Not sure if it’s a different portion if you order in the restaurant instead of delivery.

Like what everyone says, it’s basically a Yummys in Vegas with smaller portions. Tried their meat jun and Korean chicken. Korean chicken was dried and meat jun wasn’t anything special, more on the dry side also. Their sides is the best thing in my opinion. All sides are delicious but they only give a small scoop of each. I’ll be going back mainly just for their sides. Service is not great. No acknowledgement of your presence. Wait time is long so I suggest making a phone order. Update: Tried their “just fried chicken”, spicy pork belly, fried mandoo, pork egg rolls today. Chicken was not great, more on the dry side for chicken bites. The spicy pork belly was the best entree I had so far. Not spicy at all, juicy and savory in a sweet soy sauce stir fried with mixed vegetables. Spicy pork belly was so good but these portions are small as always, even though I tipped 20%!!! Fried mandoo is not flavorful, pretty bland and dry. Pork egg rolls reminded me of a unseasoned Jack in the Box eggroll. Portions of side dishes becoming smaller also. Will return for spicy pork belly. I’ll try another new dish so I have a “go-to” set mix plate. Spent $42 for a mix plate and 2 appetizers. Portions horrible.

Great service and food and drink

The food was OK. Meat Jun and spicy pork belly were really good. The raw garlic in the garlic shrimp was really harsh, and IMHO ruined the perfectly cooked shrimp. The mandu was deliciously crispy and tender at the same time. Service could use some help. The lady behind the counter seemed overwhelmed and borderline rude. Granted, it looked like she was there handling the front counter by herself during the lunch rush. I guess I would be grouchy too, but it is a business, and customer service is expected. Large portions. Will try again and hopefully, the lady has some help and a better day.

This is a great take out restaurant. Be sure to order before 7:30 pm or you might get turned away.
