Ordered a coconut shrimp roll and felt it was definitely worth the price. Fresh, each individual ingredient was flavorful but not overpowering, and definitely some of the best sushi I've had in NYC. The French dip sandwich came with flavorful and soft bread, juicy and tender prime rib, and a great sauce spread that honestly made the sandwich enjoyable enough without needing the au jus at all. The ambiance and service were great. This a perfect date spot for lunch or dinner with dim lighting, a more intimate and relaxing environment, and clean bathrooms too. The only shortcoming I have to point out is the French fries. They're like if shoestring fries had babies. Their crunch was a good texture balance with the soft sandwich, but they're just way too small. I'd give up the crunchy texture any day of the week for larger or thicker fries. Perhaps it's a personal preference, but it did feel a little awkward eating those little buggers. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal here and am excited to go back.

Visiting NYC for a wk with my mom. We just walked into this Hillstone midtown location at 4pm on a Sunday to have a meal. We were immediately turned away by the hostess"Goral." She said we didn't have a reservation & the waiting list is closed. Huh? I've never heard of a restaurant “closing” their wait list. Restaurant was not busy & no one else was waiting for any tables. I mentioned the about 20 empty tables & she said they're reserved. I guess she's expecting 30 people to all walk in at the same time. Definition of a hostess: an individual employed by a restaurant to welcome and seat guests. My mom & myself were not seated & we surely did not feel welcomed. She clearly has been trained or took it upon herself to pick & choose whom she wanted to dine & this restaurant. Such blatant discrimination. Pompous, arrogant, attitude. Negative experience. I’m staying far away from this establishment & avoiding at all costs. Train your employees to treat your guests better. After all we’re the guests.
