Higuma Japanese Restaurant

What a sweet little place. Great sushi for the price, which is not to diminish the quality and expertise of the chefs. The rice is perfectly sweet and the fish is fresh. Everyone always greets me even though I’m just getting the take out. Highly recommend!

Great value Japanese restaurant hidden along El Camino away from downtown Redwood city. Everything we ordered here was quite good, and the staff were very polite!

Been coming to Higuma since the original owner and the place has certainly gotten better with the new owner. Food and the decor are much better now, but as a result the place is even busier than before. Totally worth the visit, just once or many more times.

Unfortunately, we will not be returning due to a recent experience that left us disappointed. My group of friends (6) have been loyal patrons at your establishment for over 7+ years. Our typical orders consistently push our bill to $350-420 per visit, plus a generous tip. So, meeting the $200 minimum for the large patio table has never been an issue. However, last week our group was smaller (5) and opted for non-alcoholic drinks as part of Dry January. When our bill totaled $175 before the tip, we were pressed by the owner to pay the minimum or purchase additional food/drinks to meet the table minimum. While we understand you have a policy in place, this request felt off-putting after consistently exceeding the minimum for so long. It changed our impression of a place we've loved to frequent. We recognize you have a business to run, but the request came across as valuing a minimum spend $$$ over valued patrons. As much as we've enjoyed our times there over the years, we've chosen not to return on principle.

Unassuming sushi spot with amazing variety and prices. We just discovered this place after living close by for many years. It has now become a regular part of our restaurant rotation. We had a great experience with the service as well.
