Highland Tap obviously has many rave reviews, so my experience could be based off of higher expectations from those reviews, but I found the food to be mediocre and not worth the hype. We were 5 adults and 2 kids. Our older daughter, a steak lover, had the filet, and after a couple of bites, said it lacked flavor and would not eat it. The steak on my steak salad was also extremely chewy and the salad was also just average. Our youngest one would not eat the grilled cheese or the fries, which is always a win for her, but both were low quality even for simple food items. The chicken entree and the crab cakes were underwhelming as well. The burgers got high marks, as did the martini, and our kids devoured the red velvet cake. The service was super friendly, but not super speedy. The restaurant itself is rustic, but the acoustics are really bad. It was impossible to have a conversation without screaming with anyone other than the person sitting right next to you, and the noise was in the background all the time. Great choice for people that like a lively scene, but if you’re looking to have an easy conversation with a larger group, then this is not the place for you.
Googled, who has the best Primerib in Atlanta, and up pops Highland Tap. Made reservations the following day and the review was 100% correct! Not only that, our server Shane was amazing! Quality in every way.
