Food was marginal and the service was horrible
The atmosphere was very on theme and really well done. The food was fantastic and overall the experience was pleasant and enjoyable.
After an unsuccessful attempt to dine elsewhere in Austin, I decided to visit HideAway Kitchen and Bar. The staff exhibited professionalism and courtesy throughout my visit. I enjoyed the chicken with French toast, and the mimosa carafe was a worthwhile purchase. I would certainly return in the future.
The food is good but man it’s not worth waiting over an hour for a salad. We order separate because of the set up and then everything comes out staggered it’s actually ridiculous. We spent over 2 hours here and only had food for around 30min. They need to have a better process….
Edit: You have to decide to leave a tip before you place an order. This is bad business. I also wasn’t served by anyone, no one came to the table to get us anything, so who being tipped? Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for a salad and nachos. Arugula was bad underneath the smallest, cheapest, soggiest nachos I’ve had in recent memory. Salad was fine but it was likely the arugula was also bad—I’ll update if there are any stomach issues. Edit 2: added Willie so you get the vibe. Edit 3: Google says they are busier than usual but that is incorrect.
Ugh it’s a shame I have to give a this place 3 stars because the food is sooooo good . The service is beyond slow . It took 45 minutes for my food to come out . I ended up ordering food to go for my boyfriend about 30 mins in waiting for my own food and that was a huge mistake . I’m writing this review because an hour has passed and my bf order has not come out yet . This HAS to change . Most customers were sitting at their table irritated due to the time .
Food was fine, but extremely overpriced. Waited more than 1 hour for a salad. Received no greeting or other communication from staff until I asked about my order after 30 minutes. Menus are the awful QR codes on the table. Impersonal, overpriced, way too long.
Everything is self order, self checkout, you need to pay and tip when you order. Drinks are all self service. The food was pretty good but it took well over an hour for the food to come out and the staff was incredibly rude when we asked how long it would take. They brought the wrong order to our table and then were rude about that as well when we said that wasn’t our order. Other tables around us were having similar complaints. Definitely do not come here for brunch on a weekend - they cannot handle the capacity.
Went for brunch this afternoon. All the tables around us had an hour+ wait for our food. The food is ordered at the table by a QR code and then very minimal service from there. I ordered the waffle flight and paid an upcharge for the French toast on one of the items but didn’t get the French toast. But nobody came back to check on us so I wasn’t able to get it fixed. The food tasted good but the service was nearly nonexistent.
I was wanting to go to this spot for 3 years and finally did It's located pretty much inside a hotel- even though the building is separated from hotel One interesting thing is you don't have a waiter which I don't really like- not only for me as a customer I get no experience or interaction from a human who could possibly make my experience 50 times better You order on the app at your table And someone runs your food out Very impersonal Atmosphere is pretty basic- feels like your at a hotel- pretty mellow which is nice I recommend going during Brunch As the Broice French Toast I had was freaking amazing- one of the best French Toast situations of my life Pancakes super amazing Matcha was a Lil disappointing Coffee was ok The windows were filthy with Flys and dirt in the 1974 window seals Parking is easy I loved that they have live music- a guy was playing piano when you walk in- that was nice Thank you hideaway for supporting Music and Musicians The food was def thr best part of the experience- which is what we came for I might go back sometime- but this is Austin,TX - so many places to try and to support Fun Fact- this place was called the Saigon Inn in the late 80s early 90s- and my dad used to play music there along with 100s over other Austin,TX Musicians
