Great food, good prices, wonderful people
First time here. We each had something different and each dish was delightful. The mocktails were good too. Cozy interior with both communal and separate seating. Pleasant employees and clean. Gluten free options - thanks!
I found this place to be overpriced and the portions are small and the food mediocre. We came for the Asian inspired Ramen and noodle dishes, but I would suggest seeking out actual Asians for these dishes. Maybe other stuff is better. Parking: Nightmare
The quality surely is on par with the best out there albeit the cost may be too great for some on a regular basis.
The ONLY positive was that the menu was vegan friendly. If you'd like to spend $17 on a sushi bowl (with no protein) that's 3/4 arugula, go here. Other than a few piece of nori, this was NOTHING like a sushi bowl. For 4 bites of tofu, add $4. For even less salmon, add $8. The miso soup was all long, stringy kale and NO tofu. Oh, and tasted NOTHING like miso soup. Add some rude, pretentious service. Seriously couldn't understand why this place was so busy. Super overpriced and not very good. Not worth it. (The photo was after I ate as much arugula as I could).
A healthy lunch banger! As unique as the gold rush come artist environment that is Nevada City today. Heartwood is a fantasy-scape for vegans, vegetarians, pescatarians, members of the allergen community, and diner of all walks of life diners looking for healthy, texture-rich, and delicious plant-forward meals. You may not have journeyed over the rainbow to get here, but your stomach can as this salad is one of the most satisfying meals around. We also love the Shiitake Toast and the Kyoto Bowl.
I love Heartwood - its consistent in its 'yum' factor. Whether a veggie filled bowl or a loaded piece of toast - the ingredients and presentation is always top notch. The staff is always kind and helpful. Heartwood makes me slow down and take my time as each plate and beverage is carefully crafted and with that there is a wait time that invites enjoying the space and patronage. This is a regular spot for me - I always feel nourished after a visit to Heartwood.
I love the atmosphere it was a typical Mountain Community hip sort of place. It was filled with-pleasant people. I had the egg salad sandwich and it was it was wonderful. I'd go there again.f
