HAVANA 86 - Authentic Cuban Flavor

Food was amazing authentic Cuban. It was kind of noisy but it is very family friendly

The Ropa Vieja is life changing.

One of my worst experiences mainly in terms of customer service. We waited almost 10 mins and no one came and on top of it the table was dirty. Certainly, my family and I won’t come again. I do not recommend it at all. In other words, a total lack of professionalism. Regarding the comment below from the “owner”: First, there was no line at all. Second, the waitress told us to sit wherever we wanted because she said that area was ready. Third, I did not scream, I always treat people very politely but firmly, and finally, be more receptive when you know you are not doing a good job.

This restaurant is the worst place in terms of service I have ever been to. Not only did they have us waiting for almost 10 minutes, and had not cleaned the table we sat at, but also the owner (identified as such in this google review forum) outright lied about what had happened when we went to Havana 86. This alone is reason for no one to ever come to this restaurant —it's an action, in this case, akin to slander. The owner told my wife (see the response in one of the posts in this forum) that we had "skipped the line" (completely false: there was no line and several tables were empty), that we sat at a table not giving the server the chance to clean it (false again: we were told the tables where we headed to were ready and available), and that my wife "went off screaming at the girls [servers]" (completely fabricated: my wife firmly and politely without raising her voice communicated her complaint). This lying and distortion of facts is typical not only of people who lack a minimum of professionalism and customer service know-how, but also of a warped and manipulative mentality that does not want to admit fault and lacks humility, honesty, and integrity (and, of course, a minimum of customer service finesse). In other words, Havana 86 = TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE = NOT RECOMMENDED. P.S. Unfortunately, google does not allow for negative stars in its reviews, because this place deserves that rating. =============================== Este restaurante es el peor lugar en términos de servicio al cliente en el que he estado. Por sí solo, esta falsedad es motivo para que nadie visite jamás este restaurante; es una acción, en este caso, similar a la calumnia. La dueña le dijo a mi esposa (ver respuesta en uno de los posts de este foro) que nos habíamos "saltado la cola" (completamente falso: no había cola y varias mesas estaban vacías), que nos sentamos en una mesa sin dar a la camarera la oportunidad de limpiarla (falso otra vez: nos dijeron que las mesas en el área donde nos sentamos estaban listas y disponibles), y que mi esposa "les gritó a las chicas [camareras]" (completamente inventado: mi esposa les comunicó su queja de manera firme y cortésmente sin alzar la voz). Esta mentira y distorsión de los hechos por parte de la dueña de Havana 86 es típica no sólo de personas que carecen de un mínimo de profesionalismo y conocimientos de servicio al cliente, sino también de una mentalidad retorcida y manipuladora que no quiere admitir culpas y carece de humildad, honestidad e integridad (y , por supuesto, de un mínimo de delicadeza en el servicio al cliente). En otras palabras, Havana 86 = TERRIBLE SERVICIO AL CLIENTE = NO RECOMENDADO. P.D. Desafortunadamente, google no da la opción de dar negativo en las estrellas de valoración porque ciertamente es eso lo que merece este establecimiento.

Ayer día de los enamorados visite el lugar con mi familia porque me habían recomendado el sabor de la comida cubana, en realidad salimos complacidos, pero al traer la cuenta firmamos el papel de recibo con una propina del 18% y nos descontaron más, por esa razón no lo visitaré más desconfiamos de su seriedad.

I was in Tampa for just a couple of weeks and I had a craving for good Cuban food. I checked out Havana 86 and I'm happy to say the food was delicious. I ordered the pork chunks with yellow rice, red beans, and plantains. Everything was very good. I washed it down with a nice cold Corona. Two minor disappointments ... First, I ordered red beans, but they served me black beans. I explained to the server the mistake, but she didn't understand English and I don't speak Spanish. OK, not a big deal. I prefer red beans, but will eat black beans as a second choice. Second, not once during the meal did the server check with me to see if I needed anything or to see if i was satisfied with my meal. The next time she DID come to my table was when she brought me the check. Despite these two disappointments, I still left her a 20% tip. Maybe she had a rough day, maybe not. I just know I'm going back again because the food was wonderful.
