My wife has dietary restrictions. She keeps it simple. Avocado Rolls, Miso soup, edamame. I decided to try the teriyaki chicken special. Our server started to argue with my wife about the menu which clearly states rice and soy paper available for up charge. Server agreed and she ordered two rolls, one rice, one soy. About 40 minutes, and patience is gone….i asked why my chicken was taking so long. 3 minutes later it showed up. It looked like a half portion and the chicken was not fresh or of any quality. Small plate…half with entree other half salad. Wife’s rolls arrived one soy one seaweed. Again, more conflict with server about menu and she did make her another roll. Hard to enjoy anything when you’re upset. Our bill was $40 dollars and we left unsatisfied….still hungry…and no apology was given for the poor service, slow service, and just poor execution all around. Roll the dice and take your chances at the Happy Salmon. The T shirt was cute which is why it got 2 stars for atmosphere. Simple meal….rude server….poor execution. We spend about the same amount at tons of other sushi places and we are satisfied and happy campers. Weird is all I can say here. The lack of apology was unacceptable. I’ve never not tipped in my 52 year life….but there is a first for everything I guess.
We went on Valentine's Day for the first time, VERY busy, and the food and service were on point in spite of the chef and server being a little overwhelmed. Very satisfying meal, and very reasonable prices. We look forward to going again on a quieter night and getting to know this sweet little neighborhood sushi bistro better.
Would definitely eat here again!
My favorite sushi place on earth. - I'm from Cleveland.
My Mixed Bag Experience at Happy Salmon Hey folks! Wanted to share my recent outing to Happy Salmon in Safety Harbor. First things first, the wait for the food... much longer than I anticipated. I'm all for taking the time to make a meal right, but this felt like a bit of a stretch. Now, about the food. It was, okay. I mean, it wasn't bad, but it didn't knock my socks off either. I was hoping for that 'wow' factor, especially after the wait, but it ended up being pretty average. Nothing to write home about. On the plus side, the place itself has a decent vibe. Definitely laid-back. But, if you're looking for a culinary adventure or a quick bite, this might not hit the mark. All in all, I'm giving Happy Salmon a solid 3 stars. It's not off my list, but I'm not rushing back either. Maybe it was just an off day? I might give it another shot down the road. Until then, the search for my go-to seafood spot continues!
