One of my favorite dinner places! From the food, to the service, to the ambience - everything is simply amazing. For first timers - would recommend the spicy baby dumplings, the combination pancakes and sesame leaf tofu patties for appetizers; the avocado stone bowl with purple rice, the tofu clay pot, and the crispy mushroom in sweet and sour for mains; and finally, the red bean rhapsody for dessert. Knowing what they serve is fresh and healthy, we always have a guilt-free feast here! For drinks - I love the warm sake. They have a great selection of teas as well which include different green teas and a fruity delight - the Shissandra Chinesis. You go once, you would want to go again! :)

We finally made it to Hangawi and were pretty disappointed. The food just didn't taste fresh, felt like it was covered in store bought BBQ sauce. The seating concept is super unique and special but the restaurant is pretty outdated and they are not investing in upkeeping it. I was really looking forward to Hangawi but will not visit again.

A super cool experience with amazing food. I only have a picture of the Tofu Steak, which was great. I loved the pancake platter appetizer and the baby dumplings. I will say I'm not a huge fan of vegan sushi I've had in the past but this one was great, just as good as " normal " sushi. Also- unless you're getting a ton of stuff, it's not insanely expensive. The "$50-$100" isn't wrong, but you can get a good meal for $30/40 if you just want an entree or to split an app or 2. I definitely recommend! Oop- and there's a gluten free menu too. Dietary restrictions: Have a gluten free menu!

the best restaurant in NYC. I love the sweet and sour mushrooms, bibimbap, kimchi jigae, jeons, ddukk bokki, and black sesame cake. The teas are amazing too, as well as the makeolli. Lovely staff and service.

Traditional Korean food and atmosphere. Food was surprisingly bland. Service and atmosphere were great.

This place is an incredible Korean restaurant! Dining experience is super unique as you are required to take off your shoes before entering the dining area. You sit on a sort of bench at floor level, and your feet extend below, underneath the table. I would separately put 6 out of 5 for the atmosphere and service. It's very authentic, you even forget for a while that you're in New York We were a company of 4 people, so we were able to try a lot of dishes and nothing disappointed us. Everything was very tasty. Separately, I want to note the delicious sake and its serving in a huge bag with a ladle, as we were told, you can't pour yourself, one of your friends must. It was a pleasant ritual. Hangawi offers a delicious selection of Korean dishes. Service is quick, the staff is professional, the ambience is great, and the place is beautifully decorated! It may be a little expensive, but it's worth a try.

Nice vegetarian options: Tofu kimchi hotpot and bulgogi bibimbap were delicious. Would skip the fried mushrooms and fried dumplings, too heavy. Nice atmosphere and attentive service.
