Cool atmosphere had potential to be a great family restaurant. Cozy cabin feel ,but food was sub par and that's pushing it. Kids chicken nuggets was McDonald's and burger was brought out so fast it had to have been sitting precooked as it was just warm.
My husband said it was the best hamburger he'd ever eaten. My brother's french dip was huge. My tuna melt was good. Homemade chips and dip were different but good. The dip had a little heat but not overly so. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. Definitely will go back to try different items.
Service was HORRIBLE! the food medicore. The decor changed and not for the better. Definitely would NOT recommend
Our second visit, our second breakfast. I have cleaned my plate on both occasions, which is rare. Great food, great service. Mature team of employees. I definitely recommend coming for breakfast and go from there!
Food was very good. Ambiance was very welcoming. Zack, our waiter, was beyond belief! Our party was 11 strong, including 4 kids. He handled the situation without a glitch. He was extremely friendly and efficient. We can highly recommend this restaurant; and if you're lucky enough to have Zack as your server, you're in great hands! Kid-friendliness: Zack, our server, was great for our entire party.
I haven’t been to HBF since the ownership change so I stopped in to see how they’re doing. I’m pleased to report that the charming vibe remains somewhat intact. More white and less brown in general. The old, varied collection of tacky knick knacks, baubles and whatnot has diminished. I do appreciate that a couple of the big bears remain on their perch. The food overall seems to still be rather unrefined and the menu is quite a bit smaller. Service was friendly and genuine. I ordered the “Fried Mac & Cheese Balls” appetizer. Comes with a light green creamy dipping sauce that was not described on the menu. Unfortunately the balls were stone cold in the center. I also ordered a “Cob” which is a traditional Cobb Salad. It’s served with their signature huge, puffy breadstick. It was a generous serving although quite average and pedestrian compared to many other fine Cobb’s I’ve had. I am glad that the boiled egg was not 50 shades of gray like at D’Carlos.
This place is perfect for a blast to the past of the Wild West. Has a cool museum attached. The burger I had was great. The customer service was my favorite. It was like everyone knew you and treated you like family.
The menu has changed, which was disappointing. Everyone liked their food. However, the kids' mac n cheese is just kraft, and to me, that was upsetting as the menu says homemade Mac n cheese. Definitely not homemade, also, my Mahi tacos, the Mahi was cut into the tiniest pieces, and I could barely taste them. It was more of an avacado, lettuce, and Pico taco. I think that was our last visit, especially when the last owner had a greater menu option, and the place was so nostalgic. Now it is more modern and bland.
