Hal's "The Steakhouse"

Had an amazing experience here last night. Was traveling with a friend to see the Triumph British Invasion Motorcycle tour. It was after 10 pm and the food and service was amazing. We were treated like we were the first guest of the evening. Bone In Ribeye medium rare is the way to go. Our server “Mike” nailed the special descriptions and was very helpful as we were tired and hungry. I will return for sure.

I have to say that even though I rated everything pretty high (food, service, atmosphere) I was terribly disappointed with two things. First we were there for a five o'clock reservation which is when they open. We were seated upstairs which was perfect. There was only one other couple seated upstairs at that time, so you had many tables open. The hostess brings up another couple and he looks around, he hesitated, then he looked again, and then he sat this couple right next to us with a hundred tables readily available. So now I am concerned because now I'm wondering was he trying to sit them next to their ethnic group? Why was he hesitating and confused? Most restaurants will say oh only this section is open so we can only put you here but nope that wasn' the case as clearly all sections were open. When I say he sat them right next to us we could reach out and touch....I was so concerned why he felt the need to do that. If it had been crowded --okay no problem but we were the only two sets of people in this area with literally about 20 more tables open in this section and about 75 more tables in the nearby area. What is happening? Why did he look afraid of placing them? It worked out though because they were pretty friendly people and we could all have our on individual conversations but it was just the weirdness about what took place. Please train your hostesses. Second problem, we looked online prior to going to see what we wanted to order and the pricing. The online menu says $75 for Hal's Ribeye. We go inside to order - the menu says $80 for Hal's Ribeye. Okay so maybe no time to update the online version and we were okay. When we got the bill the bill had a total of $170 for Hal's Ribeye for the two of us. Where on planet earth does 80 and 80 = 170 especially when tax was added at the end total so no it wasn't tax per item. I am a frugal wife whereas my husband was concerned but not like me. I don't care how much money a person has to spend a lie is a lie and being gypped out of your money is not a good look for any company. I like deciding where my money goes, not someone deciding to tack on extra without an explanation. When you are told a price for something I expect for it to be that when we go to pay. I didn't see this foolishness until we left and probably should have gone back in but what I want most of all is for them to get it right so no one else is gypped out of $10 per person per steak. Outside of these two things the food and our server were exceptional.

Been wanting to come here since a lot of people talk about it as one of the most popular steak houses in Atlanta, I enjoyed everything I ordered. The reason why I’m giving 4 stars and not 5 is because I felt like the menu was very minimal. Especially when it comes to appetizers. I wish they’d have more classic options. Other than that everything was great.

For the price I expected a little more. Good but I expected great based on the hype

Absolutely AMAZING food and service! I feel so bad that I can’t remember our servers name, but he was very tall, white (longish) hair, and QUITE the character. He made our experience the best. Will def. recommend to friends and family, and we will of course be back when we visit! Thanks for the hospitality, from Texas

Great food, great staff! Husband and I came in for a weekday date night. We had the oysters, lobster mac and cheese, spinach, and prime bone-in ribeye and it was all great! Also, ordered the tiramisu…delicious. Very shareable dishes. Would definitely go again for any occasion. Note: downstairs is smoking and louder. Upstairs is more intimate and no smoking. Cheers!

This is the best steakhouse in Atlanta. We had our engagement party here :)
