Halls Chophouse Greenville

The hostess stand is the very first impression of a restaurant. The three hostesses all had the same rude expression on their face. I honestly wish that we would have turned & walked out right then. The food was mediocre. Our $14 baked potatoes were extremely cold. Entrees were nothing special. The bright spot of the evening was our waiter, Christian J. He was attentive and personable. We enjoyed talking to him. First and last time at this restaurant.

I moved to Greenville 2 years ago. I’ve been going to halls since I moved here. The service has always been bad. Tonight I had friends that came into town. They were staying at the Grand bohemian. I convinced them to go to halls. Never again! My friend’s husband is 80 and a high ranking ex military. I’m not posting his rank! There were no bar seats on the first floor so we went downstairs. We stood next to a couple who agreed to give us their bar table. When they got up to leave a waitress put a “reserved” sign on the bar table we were waiting for. We explained that we had been waiting for that “bar” table. Soon we found out that the waitress put the reserved sign for much younger men who already had a bar table. As the table remained empty, we asked why we couldn’t sit there. The waitress was beyond rude and said it was reserved for men that already had a table. In fact one of the men approached our table and told us his friend just got out of ICU!!!!! So we thought we should buy his friend a drink who still had his hospital band on his wrist. He was happy to accept the drink getting out of ICU and proceeded to drink more!! When we questioned the staff and management we were quickly treated like third class citizens. I even tried to get managements attention. He completely ignored me. When I finally got his attention he was totally rude, as he enabled his staff and upper management to continue to treat us like third class citizens, his staff knocked over an entire ice chiller. They were all left to clean up with table clothes and mops. Enough said! Just look at your cameras. We were there today downstairs at approximately 6-7:30. Cameras don’t lie. Wheelchair accessibility: Treat elderly horrible if you are not a local. This is not ADA compliant.

The finest dining experience in Greenville. Superb food and drink, but the staff is what really sets Hall's apart - their knowledge, attention to detail, and welcoming spirit. There are only a handful of restaurants in GV that perform at this level. Hall's is closely followed by restauranteur RE's - also superb. Too bad that GV doesn't offer much else other than food - no quality live music venues.

Atmosphere was a little different than expected, we were seated near the bar where there was live music. We ended up enjoying the vibe and had a good experience. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and took great care of us. Great birthday celebration for my husband.

DO NOT BOTHER!!! Went for brunch. I’ve been here a few times and have enjoyed it prior but feels like the quality has gone down considerably as this was terrible. Got the steak eggs Benedict, hardly any steak on it and eggs were pretty much rare, I know eggs on the Benedict are runny but these were bordering on RARE. Spinach was awful on it. Not much taste to the food, best thing we got was the bread rolls/turnovers at the start. Halls in Charleston has always met the level of excellence and expectation but Halls Greenville falls well, well short of it. Would not return again and definitely will not be recommending to anyone. Dissatisfied and disappointed.
