I come here often to read, drink, hang out with friends, or just spend some me time. I recommend coming here with friends or a date if you're looking for a place to hang out for the first time. Check their website for any events such as live music or DJs. It can get crowded and it may be difficult to find parking, but overall, it is a great place to go. 8 out 10 I recommend

We came in during a shift change, but our bartender was sweet and helped us right away. Drinks and atmosphere were great. Met a waitress from the neighboring restaurant, Leah, and I can't wait to go try the pizza. Over all amazing experience and vibe. Haven't been to Blue Star in almost 10 years and it's officially one of my favorite spots again. Yall go visit Leah at Holmes Slice!

I live just a short walk away, so I should be coming here frequently, right? Unfortunately, I do feel like this place used to be much better pre-pandemic. It's still got a nice atmosphere, but the food is just so-so, and service is questionable. Staff seems a little indifferent in attentiveness to both food and service. Weekend brunches are essentially a continuation of that loud dance music you were trying to forget last night while nursing your hangover. But you might be really into that? I'm not a coffee afficianado, so my judgement may be poor, but the coffee is decent. If that's all you're looking for, then it's worth a visit in my opinion. I want to like this place more, and by all accounts, it's succeeding. I just think it could be better. So you make the determination based on your criteria of what makes a coffee place with breakfast great.

I used to love this place, but I can’t fathom the idea of paying 12 bucks for a martini that is served in a plastic orange solo esk cup. It is just not worth it. Also, I’m not sure when they stopped doing blended coffee drinks but that was a surprise. It’s just not what it used to be and with so much competition I’d probably pick somewhere else. One year later update: no change - This place is extremely overrated. It has gone down over the years. Let me set the scene. It was weekend service (wait staff/table service) and moderately busy. My experience was poor for the following reasons: my latte was not hot (it was a while before I received it so I imagine the server forgot it), the eggs Benedict dish had cold potatoes accompanied with the Benny. The Benny wasn’t terrible, but please trust that I have had better ihop. No shame to ihop. Just saying. my server was not there for it. Upon ordering she would pivot immediately but I wasn’t done ordering so I had to call her back. This happened not only to me but to a friend. The server appeared impatient. It was odd because although it was moderately busy, she didn’t appear so. Lastly, I am annoyed that the automatic gratuity was there but she didn’t say it. Perhaps it’s on the menu or the receipt, but I think that when I questioned her about my bill total and then told her I only got two items she could have clarified that the tip was there. I know most places do automatic gratuity with 6 or more, but let me be clear, NOT every restaurant does it, so I think it would be appropriate for her to have said it. Anyway, I tipped on top of the tip unknowingly. In any case, I get it. I should have verified, but it does not make me want to visit this establishment again. There are better coffee lounges in the city.
