Went on April 2024. Authentic Kaiseki. $225 / person.
Convinced 3 of my friends to dine here with me because I was craving kaiseki. I really feel like most people's perception of higher end Japanese food ends at sushi, so exploring and inviting other people to explore spots like Tempura Matsui and Torishin and Hakubai is something that I've had a lot of fun with. The menu here is very well though out. The chawanmushi is the star for me. followed closely behind by the chazuke they gave us at the very end. Also the atmosphere is really sexy. I'd definitely take a date hear, but sit at the counter.
I have no words. We went for my girlfriend’s birthday and enjoyed the spring menu. The service, menu, and ambiance was absolutely terrific. Our sommelier was so gracious and the staff was so attentive, I cannot recommend this place enough. Please visit!
The location is inside a hotel. Uni chawanmushi is the best dish in all courses!! Simply amazingly executed and the best chawanmushi I’ve had. There are some “fillers” such as the rice tasting at the end. Overall very good experience.
This establishment offers an incredible interior reminiscent of old Tokyo, akin to stepping into a time machine. The service is attentive and friendly. Authentic Kaiseki experience. Personal favorites include the unagi rice and strawberry shortcake.
Great ambiance, great service however the portion sizes are so small. I left there hungry.
Gorgeous restaurant, wonderful service, amazing food, excellent location!
Hakubai has shed its old skin and emerged as a dazzling culinary butterfly! The meticulous attention to detail in every aspect elevates the dining experience to new heights. The food is a work of art, each bite a burst of flavor and artistry. The fragrance alone is enough to entice you in, and the entire ambiance is designed to let you savor every moment. Hakubai is no longer just a restaurant; it's a must-try destination for anyone who appreciates exceptional dining.
One of the best tasting menus experiences I’ve tried! The staff are so detailed and I would highly recommend if you like Japanese food/fine dining.
