Gus's BBQ

A plate with 4 small ribs, small side of pulled pork and 1sausage for $50??? Its called the picnic platter Hmmmmmmm. IDK, if the food was five star...hard maybe but for outback style BBQ at gus's, its a futile and totally insulting price. One star for atmosphere because if the food is just ok, like extra average, then atmosphere means absolutely nothing. Bludoes in Hollywood is your best bet. If I'm desperate I'll go to Hogley wogley in Van Nuys. Gus's is basically Hogley wogley with a fancier interior but food is the same. Easy Pass...

I grew up on BBQ. From the backyard grills to smoking meats in the kettle. I believe I know BBQ when I taste it. Unfortunately, I went to Gus's BBQ and was fully disappointed. The baby back ribs were hard and unappetizing, the brisket was overcooked and rubbery and the Cole slaw tasted like Christmas tree needles. The entire diner cost me approximately $60.00 but I believe I would have been better served if I had ordered a McRib from McDonald's. The sides were tasteless and the fries were exceptionally bland. I don't know where Gus learned to BBQ but he can take it back where he came from. Spending $60 on burnt meat is not my idea of BBQ!!!

The salad was excellent choice for lunch. It was very busy in the restaurant so it could be a little difficult to hear conversation. Service was attentive and food came out timely. Parking: Handicapped parking very limited.

Forgot all the sauces, the BBQ and the honey sauce for the corn bread. Waited for 20 minutes in the lobby by the TO GO desk and no one had approached me.
