Gunther's Ice Cream

Went here with friends last day and these are all we got. The next day I stopped by again. Yum!!

Drove all the way from Reno just to try this ice cream! It didn't disappoint, and we'll be returning as soon as the snow is gone

Gunther’s is an iconic Sacramento staple. It’s good ice cream but the horrendous service far outweighs their product and I will not be returning after being a loyal customer of 40+ years. It is simply not worth it. I’ll give them an A for effort for making an attempt to keep up with the times by online ordering - which is what I did the other night (2 pre made mud pies and 2 pre made mini cones). They need to do more than make an Attempt though. The order I placed was at 6:55pm. I was there at 7:40 but it wasn’t ready until 7:58. Again, nothing had to be made. They simply needed to put 4 cones in a bag. That’s it. Very simple. However, the place had a line out the door and they only had 4-5 kids working who clearly could not work effectively or efficiently as a team or get simple tasks done. The amount that’s charged/ earned, the establishment should really be embarrassed that they take over an hour for such simple orders. Hire people who can work efficiently and effectively. Hire people who can prioritize tasks. Hire adults. Make sure there is ample coverage. Get with the times Gunther’s, this is not the 1940’s any longer.

They are just so busy nowadays! There is ALWAYS a line out the door. I loved coming here as a kid. Great food, reasonable prices, fun, friendly place. I guess reviews & the internet blew them up. So now everybody & their uncle wants to go there. I don't like to mess with a good thing, but maybe they need a bit more room...?

We loved it and will be coming back to try other flavors….
