Green Parrot: My favorite neighborhood tiki bar I grew up in Tampa and know the area very well. Green Parrot is very close to my home, so it is a convenient place for me to go hang out and relax. I’ve made a lot of friends there over the years, and am now compelled to write a review after a recent positive experience, and here is why: 1. Location: Even though Dale Mabry is a busy street, the bar is very conveniently located and where it is in the parking lot is not close to the street, so when you’re outside you’re not constantly hearing cars go by. 2. Drink Specials: they offer pitchers of beer as well as buckets, so it is a good way to get more bang for your buck. 3. Friendly Staff: I have seen a lot of bartenders come and go, but the current staff is probably the best I’ve ever seen, when I recently got some upsetting news, everybody rushed to make sure that I was okay and genuinely cared about how I was doing. I would like to give a special shout out to Britt, she is the most attentive and such a caring person. The first time I met her, a guy that I knew kept trying to put his drinks on my tab and she would not allow him to without my permission. She also protects peoples drinks if they leave them unattended, has paid for Uber rides for people to get home safely with her own money, and is constantly aware of her surroundings. I always feel safe when Britt is working, and I know a lot of the other regulars feel the same way. 4. Outdoor Seating: probably the best part about the bar is the outdoor patio. There’s a lot of TVs surrounding it and it’s just nice to have a beer outside and a nicely shaded area Constructive Feedback: the food is always amazing, but the kitchen hours are very inconsistent. There’s always food in the daytime, but at night it’s very hit or miss. I’d also like to see more fun events like live music or karaoke, they have it occasionally. Overall, Green Parrot is a hidden gem of a neighborhood bar, where the staff is friendly, the wings are amazing, and the friends I have met along the way are great. There’s a reason why I come here to unwind almost every weekend, it’s because I genuinely feel like family.
