Its the second time i have left this bakery empty handed. Both times, there were no other customers. The first time i merely asked for clarification how long their sourdough was fermented for (just to understand if it were real Sourdough) or a dough with lactic acid added to speed up the process. My second visit a year later, I was seeking a savory bakery option. Both times I was met with frosty responses across the counter. You could tell that the lady behind the counter was irritated by my two simple questions. Needless to say, I chose not to spend my money here. Probably wont be returning either, unless i need another serving of frosty attitude.
Hard to set a "star rating" here, but I've used their Downers Grove location for a few years. It's now permanently closed - not surprising. They had some breads I really liked, but the service was very very slow. I'll have to try this Naperville location as I do go by here occasionally.
I love the popeye's passion bread... but its a seasonal bread. Please let me know when it comes back.
Went in to purchase a loaf of bread to bring to a neighbor and the woman working was incredibly helpful and kind. Overall great experience and I’d highly recommend!
Great loaves of bread. Service is mediocre. Typically a short line that takes some time to get through. A couple of weeks ago came in over one hour prior to close and was told no more sandwiches for the day.
Um..I feel like I just left the twilight zone, such a buzzard and uncomfortable atmosphere. The woman who attended us seemed absolutely baffled by every question and had no customer service inclination. There were no menus and they didn’t even have the things that were on the signs outside. $9 for two mediocre iced coffees that felt like pulling teeth to order (they also had a strange taste…like maybe the roast was flavored?) Overall just not a welcoming experience and I was hoping for a new local coffee/baked goods spot but this missed the mark.
Have been buying their bread for years!!! Oregon Herb, Casey’s chicken salad, Jalapeño Havarti, Flamin Hot chips. Perfection
Got the Popeye bread from the Farmers Market in Downers Grove and it paired well with Mozarella cheese, tomatoes, basil and balsamic vinegar. Would definitely buy this bread again.
