Gourmet Lunch

Excellent food.

Gourmet Lunch is amazing! Please go in to the door on the left "Gourmet". Maria makes the best food, and it is fresh every day. The menu changes depending on what she has, so you can call ahead if you would like to know. She usually has meat, chicken, 3 types of rice, plantains, vegetables, beans, and sometimes shrimp. I'm sure the side selections may change during the seasons. The meat is so tender, and the chicken so flavorful. Maria and group are so sweet and genuine too. I am happy to support this business, and so is my heart and stomach.

Updated review I go to both of the side-by-side businesses here at least once weekly. As a Dominican, I'm uniquely qualifed to say that Maria's cooking is phenomenal. These ladies treat you like family and it comes through in flavor! (This is the side under the "Gourmet" sign). There's always a spread of options, with more to choose from the earlier in the lunch hour you go. The more classic American fare is on the right - the door under the "Lunch" side of the restaurant signage. Their menu is extensive, they're fast, affordable, and the food never disappoints. This place is frequented by folks in Newark City Hall and the Municipal Court down the street. *** Delicious food (both sides of the business!) and warm, welcoming, friendly owners and employees. Maria makes the best salmon in earth .. prices can be off, some days $1 hire others a $1 less

I love this place, if you're looking for a tasty food in a wonderful atmosphere. This can be the best choice. It's small but worth it. Vegetarian options: The salads are fresh and so tasty
