Good Cakes and Bakes

I tried to go here but the place was closed on a Friday afternoon. I called ahead of time to make sure they were open. I wish they would have said something about being closed on their pre-recorded phone message.

Worst customer service in the history of customer service. When I lived in Michigan, we ordered so many of their cakes, literally thousands of dollars worth. My family still intended to order their cakes, as they still live in Michigan (an hour away, but we loved the cakes that much). Now that I live in Texas, they shipped me the wrong cake (and non-vegan when I ordered vegan), ruining my birthday. They were supposed to send a replacement in time for Valentine’s Day, but ignored my messages after promising a new cake. They wouldn’t refund me so I reached out to the shipping service. The new cake is supposedly coming today, and I got a VERY rude message from Good Cakes acting like I’m the problem when my $100 birthday cake will be 8 days late. They claim they won’t sell me another cake because I asked for a refund (and I was going to tell the shipping service I don’t need a refund anymore after the cake arrives), but my family was going to stop ordering their cakes after this mess anyway! They’re extremely rude, shipped me the wrong cake, ignored my messages, then decided I’m the bad guy when I asked for a refund after not receiving my birthday cake?

Love this place. I always get the banana pudding but they have a lot of great options to choose from.

Cue the music: Heaven! I’m in heaven! I love this place. Every single item was delicious and the crew is so nice. I can feel the love and warmth radiating from every corner of Good Cakes and Bakes. I’m not vegan but the vegan cookie butter cake is amazing. The rum cake is astounding and I’m not being hyperbolic when I say I’ve never had a better pot pie in my life. This is what a beautiful black owned business is supposed to look like. Again, just heaven.

7 up pund cake, cookies all excellent. Their hours are a little odd but oh well, when you catch them open, it is a treat!

I ordered the vegan carrot cake thru Goldbelly and was sooo disappointed. The cake was dry, dense and flavorless. It was a dinner party dessert and it was so terrible. The Goldbelly delivery was flawless but the cake was a major fail. I would expect much more from a “change maker chef” at almost $100 per cake. I have eaten vegan for 30 years, owned a vegan restaurant and have made and eaten many vegan carrot cakes in my life and this was absolutely the worst.

Excellent and delicious red velvet and pound cakes delivered in time for Christmas. Fresh and packed perfectly for shipping. Will order again. Vegetarian options: Has some delicious options.
