wow my first negative review in years. pitch black burnt salmon, flavorless and undercooked sides. how do you mess up kinpira and hijiki? then again, their miso soup was also hot water so i shouldn’t have been surprised. overpriced and significantly worse than a conbini meal. to top the cake, i saw my waiter twice because she was busy talking with the bartender.

Gohan-ya is the same place as A Lovely Day, got their salmon+2 sides dinner entree. It tasted like something I could easily make at home. Waiters and waitresses are friendly and attentive They only take AmEx or cash which was a bummer, had to use the ATM in their restaurant

This place has changed!! It’s no longer a Japanese place and it is now a Thai place. This google page needs to be updated.

The salmon Bowles sashimi quality isn't the best. Chikarashi has much better quality sashimi for the price. Chicken teishoku set is underwhelming. It doesn't come with miso soup or rice which was my fault for not noticing the add on... however japanese food not coming with rice is confusing I was not aware of the gluten-free identity of the restaurant Gohan-ya started sharing the same restaurant space with the Thai restaurant lovely day around 2020. When reading reviews take note of the date.

Nice waiter but this google listing is just fully inaccurate and should be taken down. Gohan-ya no longer exists as a restaurant. None of the pictures or reviews here reflect reality, because Gohan-ya has been taken over by Lovely Day which serves tasty Thai food, but disappointing Japanese food on a small side-menu titled Gohan-ya I came here for some Japanese comfort food (the curry that gohan-ya was known for) and was given a runny broth with sichuan peppers and a fork to eat it with. It wasn’t awful but certainly wasn’t what was advertised or something I’d ever order again. Also they only take cash or Amex here

The food was disgusting!!!! It was garbage and was a monstrosity it’s a culinary abomination I would never recommend and the place was so dirty and smelled like something died! Also they copied the name of the former restaurant “gohan”

The curry wasn’t Japanese curry, and fried chicken was hard to chew. Not worth trying.
