Really good fragrant, soft, fluffy Japanese milk bread. It operates out of a ghost kitchen where you can pickup in person or from your car. Expensive, but worth it once in a while as a treat.
This review is only on the bread as it was a X’mas gift. At first I didn’t understand how on earth a loaf of bread can cost $18 and being packaged as a gift? Well, I followed the instruction on best way to enjoy it. I finished 1/2 loaf in December and froze the other 1/2. Now it’s January, I took out the other 1/2 and let it defrost on its own over the counter, then sliced a thick slice, gently toasted and enjoyed it daily. Now, I’m eating the last piece. This is by far the BEST bread I have ever had!!! It’s unbelievable how well it freezes and it tastes as good as fresh! It is worth every dollar of it. I would get more except there is only one location and it very far. I will put it on my wishlist to Santa.
Such good bread. We finished a whole loaf in a day. I am coming back the second time now
The best version bread loaf you can get with a pretty high price… worth trying though. Is it possible to have a branch store in SF bay area, PLEASE?
Best white bread you can get on earth. Didn’t know I could get this excited to eat white bread. It’s like bread from the high heaven accidentally fell down for us mortals to taste.
I love their bread. Try not to go right at lunch time and you can get waited on quicker
I finally bought it. There is a pick-up point in the Chinese area. I can't stop eating it. It's so delicious. I bought 3 pieces in one go and ate them slowly.
Ginza Nishikawa only sells shokupan, a Japanese milk bread. It is the softest, fluffiest white bread that you will taste. It melts in your mouth. There are no preservatives; ingredients are just ionized water, cream, butter, honey, and Japanese white flour. Sooooo good. It's delicious on its own, or get creative with recipes - french toast, sandwiches, avocado toast... It used to be difficult to get a loaf, like a Black Friday doorbuster, but they seem to have expanded their options so if you can't order in advance, you can also order from Locale and Goldbelly. They also have a limited supply of loaves available for walk-ins. Follow their IG for pop-ups around town. Located inside the Colony; street parking. Highly recommend!
