Amazing space with excellent happy hour 4-7pm and the soups are delicious. I absolutely love the vegetable Izakaya soup with lots of vegetables and seaweed and just the right amount of noodles and spices (you can add spiciness).. This is inside the Columbus circle wholefoods and you can purchase food in the store and eat there as long as you order something from Izakaya. It's a special place also for sports fans. They have 2 TVs!
I’ve gone here in the past and have never had a bad experience. The prices are great, the beer is always interesting, and it’s a nice little spot to chill out. I never usually care about service, but tonight I can’t believe the lack of care. My summary: 1) For some reason, there was apparently only one spot people could order from, so people would hang out at the bar listless, ignored by staff until some kind stranger pointed them in the right direction. 2) After I managed to put an order in for my table (some beer, a couple of ramens, and a couple of baos), we got sent incorrect (and more expensive) side dishes of poké instead of the baos. When we brought it up to the staff, they seemed to not know what baos were altogether, and since the poké had the same elements, it was implied that we should just take what we received. If we had any further issue, they recommended that we go to customer service. Ultimately, since neither the beer nor the baos came, that is exactly what we did. It was super easy to get our money back, but this experience was pretty awful. I would recommend you keep it simple here, stick to beer, gyoza, and ramen, because they don’t know what they’re doing here otherwise.
