General Store & Mercantile Cafe

We brought our 2024 Teacher Fellowship cohort here for lunch as part of our tour following the trail of The Great Locomotive Chase, which began down the tracks in Marietta when the "Andrews' Raiders," a group of Union soldiers and civilians, stole the locomotive "The General" and launched the day-long chase back to Chattanooga that resulted in the awarding of the first Medals of Honor. Sebastian was super helpful and welcoming, and had our delicious lunch ready and waiting right on time. It was a beautiful day, so we were able to eat at picnic tables behind the store next to the very active railroad tracks, which was perfect for our group! The store itself is absolutely charming, with a great small Southern town atmosphere complete with chess and checkers at the tables. Highly recommend!

My family and I have eaten here dozens of times. The food is always excellent - the menu and specials provide delicious options for everyone. It is our favorite restaurant in Adairsville. The staff and the atmosphere are exceptional, too! If you’re in the area, you should visit. You’ll be glad you did.

The food is absolutely amazing! Carol, Sebastian and family have the best soups, salads, and sandwiches in town! We come here to eat and always feel welcomed!

Wonderful atmosphere, great lunch food and very friendly, helpful, laid-back staff. The only negative is some of the merchandise for example honey and soaps are a little expensive for the sizes.

My picky toddler hasn't eaten much of anything in week and ate a whole half a sandwich here today! I feel like that's enough of a review for me haha. My food was also fantastic and the people working were so kind. I'll definitely be back for their spices and teas too! The selection was so impressive
