Garden State Diner

I waited for 10 minutes for someone to come to my table, even though the place was mostly empty. I ordered a coffee and a slice of cake. Another 10 minutes passed and I had to give up, or I would miss my flight. Saw another person also leaving for not being able to order after a while waiting.

Diner menu, good selection for airport. Hot food needs to be hot, especially soup and if they asked for a preference of how you would like the burger. Service made up for it though.

I chose to stop here because it was the best rated food in the terminal, and it was pretty decent, especially for being in an airport. TVs give you something to watch if you’re inclined, and the diner decor makes for a quiet and casual experience. The staff were friendly, and service was much faster than I had expected given they only had two servers for about 20 people; they have their efficiency down! The flying monkey milkshake was very good, and with an order of chicken and waffles the experience was complete. The waffle was interesting in a good way, and not quite what I expect from a Belgian waffle. Crispy in the edges and more like a pancake in the center. The chicken was moist and cooked well. It must have been sitting for a minute or two as it was very warm, but wasn’t as hot as one would expect coming from a fryer, coupled with the softer breading it was as nevertheless good. Some parts of the breading seemed to have caught, and a bit of burned oil flavor crept in. Not the cheapest spot to eat, but overall I’d come back and recommend this spot.

If this passes for the best food in terminal C than I will bring my own sandwich next time I am at this airport. Ordered a gyro at take out counter. Pita bread was burnt and hard to chew. Beaf was average in flavor. Calslaw was swimming in mayo. I am not a picky eater, but this is just not edible.

Just had coffee. I enjoyed it.

Sat down to eat. Server was slow and my order was taken by someone else. Then the original server comes over and hands me the check saying she was leaving and wanted me to pay and tip her for doing nothing before I got my food.

Horrible customer service. The lady that was opening today didn’t even greet us just basically told us to go and come back when diner opens. Then when we came back again she looked up and put her head down again like we were bothering her by trying to buy our food. Very uncomfortable never eating from here again. If you hate dealing with people at 5:00am then find another iob…

Terrible service and extremely mediocre food. We almost missed our flight because the food took 40mins to arrive.
